The Lancaster Bible College Softball team hosted their United East Conference double-header in Penn St. Abington on Saturday, falling in both 0-8 and 4-9. The Chargers are now 6-13 overall and 0-4 in conference while the Lions improve to 10-10 overall and 4-2 in conference.
Game One, 0-8 Loss
How It Happened: It was all Lions from the start as they got two early runs in the first inning to take the lead. The Lions managed to get another un in the third inning before finding a scoring outburst in the sixth inning to win 8-0. The Chargers were neutralized offensively, only getting two hits for the game.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had two hits and seven strikeouts… the Lions had 11 hits for eight runs and seven RBIs…
Alyssa Hamilton and
Carleigh Cleland each had a hit… Hacker went 3-3 with 2 RBIs.
Game Two, 4-9 Loss
How It Happened: Coming off a tough loss, the Chargers responded to an early 3-0 deficit with three runs through three innings.
Alyssa Hamilton scored on a wild pitch in the first inning, Rinaldi grounded out to bring in
Riley Danko, and Hamilton hit a solo home run to left field. The Lions took a one-run advantage in the fifth, but the Chargers tied the game once again in the bottom of the sixth inning as a fielder's choice from
Sheyenne King brought in
Anna Rinaldi. Despite keeping pace with the Lions, it was another late offensive outburst in the top of the seventh inning as they pushed the score to 9-4 to win.
By the Numbers: The Chargers grabbed nine hits for four runs and three RBIs… the Lions had 16 hits for nine runs and seven RBIs…
Phoebe Clemens and Hamilton had two hits each with Hamilton tallying an RBI… the Chargers had three stolen bases and two errors… Antosiewicz went 4-5 for the Lions.
Up Next: The Chargers host Gallaudet tomorrow, April 7 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for another conference double-header, a game that was originally scheduled for March 27.
