After going into the ninth inning down two runs, the Lancaster Bible College Baseball team put up four runs in the final inning and held the opposition to zero to seal the 14-12 win. After the win, the Chargers improved to 11-4 and extended their win streak to nine straight. On the other hand, the Patriots dropped to 5-11 overall.
How It Happened: The Chargers got the bats rolling early posting six runs in the first two innings to Valley Forge's one. In the second inning, four different players notched an RBI as Lancaster Bible was overwhelming the Patriots.
The bats started to slow down for the Chargers, and Valley Forge kept picking away at their deficit. In the fifth inning, an
Owen Shimmel double brought
Dylan Witkowski home, and
Harrison Hobdy hit in Shimmel to extend the lead to 9-3. However, the Patriots responded with three massive innings, posting three, two, and three runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, respectively.
This left the Chargers in a two-run hole going into the ninth.
Malachi Sloane hit a big double to bring in two runs from Hobdy and
Nick Colarossi and tie it up.
Evan Sareyka shortly followed with a double of his own, and Sloane and Witkowski brought the Chargers a 14-12 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. Witkowski held the Patriots to zero hits in the final inning, resulting in a come-from-behind victory for the Chargers.
