Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Hunter Gerber

Men’s Tennis Fall, Women’s Tennis Rise for Senior Day

The Lancaster Bible College Men's and Women's Program celebrated Senior Day on Tuesday afternoon while hosting United East Conference foe Penn State Berks. The Chargers celebrated just one senior this year and a program favorite in Caleb Cavaiani. The men went on to lose 8-1 while the women picked up a 7-2 victory.

Despite the score, there were several entertaining matches on the men's side of things including two doubles matches that went 13 sets each. On the singles side, Cavaiani had the hardest fought match that began with a solid tiebreaker for Cavaiani. He went on to lose a heartbreaker in three sets 10-3. Andrew Kelly also went three sets but fell 13-11 in the final one. Cole Scheihing was the lone Charger to get a win for the day with a strong 6-1, 6-0 showing.

The women had a strong showing on what turned out to be a beautiful day. Both duos secured dominant wins to begin the day with their only loss coming due to forfeit. In singles, Steckbeck fought hard for a 7-5 victory before making an 8-0 sweep to win her match. Sierra Hartmann, Jania Weist, Natalie Hoover, and Susannah Clawser all secured singles wins as well not giving up more than two sets in each match.

Up Next: The Chargers head north to Clarks Summit, Pa. tomorrow, April 17 for a non-conference bout with the Defenders beginning at 12:00 p.m.
