Lancaster, Pa. – The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team found out their assignment on Monday morning as the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship Selection show announced the Chargers are headed to Boston, Mass. to play Wentworth Institute of Technology. The Chargers are the first United East sponsored team to earn a bid in the NCAA DIII Men's Volleyball National Tournament. The opening round is set to begin on Friday, April 19 with the winner advancing to the second round on Saturday, April 20 to play either Vassar or Nichols.
Year in Review: Head Coach
Jade Brubaker and crew had a gauntlet of teams to open the 2023-24 season, playing a total of nine top-20 nationally ranked teams. The Chargers enter postseason play 15-13 overall and 6-0 in conference. The Chargers have been relatively strong at home, achieving a 11-3 record but are 3-7 on the road. The Chargers have three players averaging two kills per set in
Dawson Forney (2.88),
Jordan Yoder (2.61), and
Jake Rotelle (2.00). United East Championship MVP,
Christian Herr, is dishing out 8.88 assists per set while leading the team with 34 service aces. On the defensive side,
Ben Latham is second in conference with 2.96 digs per set racking up 269 total digs on the year.
Look at Wentworth: The Wentworth Leopards are 30-1 overall with seven nationally ranked wins and their only loss coming in a five-set match at Lasell on March 26. The Chargers have three common opponents in Marymount (Va.), Misericordia, and Stevens all of which they beat. Statistically, the Leopards have four players averaging two kills per set or more and a setter who dishes out 10.73 assists per set. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Champions have not lost a set since April 3.
