The Lancaster Bible College Softball team hosted Penn St. Harrisburg to round out the week on Saturday afternoon, splitting the day as they dropped game one 2-7 and fought back to win 7-5 in game two. The Chargers move to 13-18 overall and 5-9 in the United East, while the Lions are now 22-10 overall and 11-5 in conference play.

Game 1: 2-7 Loss

How it Happened:
The Chargers found the scoreboard in the first inning as
Phoebe Clemens singled and stole second, then
KariAnn Mecke blasted a double to left field to put LBC up 1-0. The Lions took until the third inning to score, stringing several hits together to tie the game at 1-1 then using a sacrifice fly to take a 2-1 lead over the Chargers. Lancaster Bible responded in the fourth inning as
Riley Danko hit a double to left center, bringing
Carleigh Cleland around to score to bring the game to a 2-2 tie.

Both teams were held scoreless over the next two innings before the Lions got it going in the top of the seventh. After two hits and a hit-by-pitch, the Lions drew two walks to take a 4-2 lead, then some more base hits extended that lead to five runs to put the game out of reach.
Anna Rinaldi had a pinch-hit single in the bottom of the inning, but the Chargers had no answer as they dropped game one 7-2.

How it Happened:
It was all Harrisburg at the beginning as they put three runs on the board in the first inning, while the Chargers struggled offensively early in the game as they had a bases-loaded situation with one out in the second inning but failed to score. The Lions added two more runs in the third inning with four total hits in the frame, then LBC went quickly in the bottom to keep them down 5-0 after three innings.

The Chargers got a rally going in the fourth as
Alyssa Hamilton knocked a double to right center to score Cleland for the first run of the game.
Sheyenne King laid down a nice bunt to load the bases back up for
Noelle Martin, who connected on a 2-run single to cut the deficit to just two runs.
Phoebe Clemens was next up, and she delivered an RBI-single to score King and make it a one-run game.

Another rally was sparked in the fifth inning as
Alyssa Paulson led off with a single, then Danko had a base hit and Hamilton drew a walk to load the bases again. After a fielder's choice, King came through with a two-RBI single to help LBC pull ahead 6-5. In the sixth inning, Paulson had a short pop-up that scored Clemens from third, extending the lead to two, then Martin helped close the game on the mound in the seventh to secure the Chargers' split with Harrisburg on the day with a 7-5 win.
