Men’s Soccer Earns First Win over Gwynedd Mercy

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team got in the win column on Wednesday night as they earned a 3-0 victory over Gwynedd Mercy behind three first-half goals. The Chargers are now 1-2 overall while the Griffins slide to 1-3 overall.
 
How it Happened:
The Chargers kicked off the game with a bang, scoring the first goal of the game just 11-seconds in as sophomore Dan Marcroft netted the goal off a quick assist from senior Devyn Kintzer. LBC kept the shots coming early, keeping the Griffins' defense on high alert as three more shots went on goal. The Chargers scored once again in the 16th minute as junior Andrew Cox scored his first goal of the season, this time with Marcroft on the assist to boost the early lead to 2-0. It was once again Marcroft in the 38th minute cashing in for his second goal of the game with sophomore Zach Coryell getting the assist, pushing the Charger lead to three goals heading into the half.
 
Despite the three-goal lead, the Chargers continued to attack on offense, sending a total of eight shots towards the net and holding the Griffins to just three shots for the half. LBC wrapped up the night with a 3-0 win for their first of 2024.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers outshot Gwynedd Mercy 17-7 on the game with nine shots on goal to the Griffins' four
- Dan Marcroft led the way with two goals and an assist for a five-point night
- Andrew Cox netted a goal, while Devyn Kintzer and Zach Coryell added an assist each
- Chris Jackson made four saves in goal for the Chargers
 
Information to Know:
This was the sixth matchup between the Chargers and the Griffins, with LBC now leading the series 3-2-1. This was Chargers head coach Tom Ardt's 125th career outright win with Lancaster Bible, adding to his program record for most coaching wins. Sophomore Dan Marcroft secured his first career multi-goal game with two in the first half. Junior Andrew Cox has reached 50 career points with his first-half goal today, becoming just the 25th player in program history to reach the 50-point milestone.
