Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Hunter Gerber

Late Goal Ties York (Pa.), 1-1

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team visited the York (Pa.) Spartans on Saturday afternoon ending the game in a 1-1 draw. Freshman Joel Walker earned his first career goal in the 65th minute. The Chargers move to 1-2-1 overall while the Spartans are 3-0-3 on the season.

How It Happened: A couple shots on goal from the Chargers to start the half put the Spartans on their toes. It was the Spartans who found the net first however scoring in the 30th minute to take the lead 1-0. The Spartans ended the half with three more shots on goal but two saves from Chargers goalkeeper Chris Jackson proved pivotal in keeping the deficit at a minimum.

Opening the second half of play it was the Spartans who came attacking, but it was the Chargers who managed to catch a break as Walker put in his first goal of his collegiate career. Tension ran high as time began to wind down with several fouls on both sides, but neither team was successful in breaking the tie leading to a 1-1 draw.

By the Numbers: The Spartans led in shots 31-7 and in corner kicks 8-1… the Chargers had 11 saves on the night… Walker had the goal for the Chargers… Dermot Williamson had the goal for the Spartans.
