Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Chase Gerber

Chargers Storm Back for Draw, 1-1

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team took a road trip early Saturday morning to go up against the Mighty Macs of Immaculata University in their first away venture of the regular season. Coming off a win the Chargers looked to extend their streak. The Chargers ended up in a draw, 1-1. The Chargers are now 1-1-2 on the season, while the Mighty Macs are now 2-4-1.

How It Happened:

The Chargers headed into an early game against the Mighty Macs where they looked to add another win to their record. The first half was a bit slow for the visiting team as the Chargers struggled to get a lot of good looks on goal, even though the play was even on both sides. It wasn't until the end of the half that things started to play out between the two teams. As the Mighty Macs scored around the 44th minute, this put the Chargers down 1-0 headed into halftime.

With a little bit of ground to make up for, the Chargers looked to push the pace offensively in the second half. This half was all Chargers, as they almost doubled the number of shots and opportunities they had in the first half. One of those shots were bound to fall and that it did. In the 82nd minute, sophomore Samantha Perloni stepped up to take a free kick and passed it right to sophomore Haley Moyer, who proceeded to tap it in for the defender-to-defender connection and the Chargers' first goal. This ended up being the last goal of the game, as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

By the Numbers:

The Chargers led in shots with 17 to the Mighty Macs' 11... the Chargers and Mighty Macs had 3 corners apiece... the Chargers ended with 4 saves, the Might Macs had 10... Moyer had the lone goal for the Chargers... Perloni notched an assist.

The Chargers remain on the road for a game against Elizabethtown College on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.
