Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Hunter Gerber

Golden Wolves Race Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team traveled to Alvernia University on Wednesday for a non-conference match with the Golden Wolves falling 6-2. After a rocky start to the first half, the Chargers were unable to recover after the 6-1 deficit moving to 0-2 overall on the season while the Golden Wolves improve to 2-0-1 overall.

How It Happened: The first 15 minutes of the first half was a blur for the Chargers as the Golden Wolves poured in five total goals to take a demanding 5-0 lead. The first goal happened just 46-seconds into play with the others coming directly after. It was until the 23rd minute that sophomore Dan Marcroft got a solo goal to go to make it 5-1. The Golden Wolves however regained the momentum swiftly scoring another one of their own just a few minutes before half to improve the lead to 6-1.

While the Chargers defense stepped up in the second half keeping the home team off the board, the deficit proved too much as the Chargers could only find one more to add to the board as freshman Moses Katembo got his first goal of his career in the 73rd minute off an assist from Luke Myers. The Golden Wolves went on to win 6-2.

By the Numbers: The Chargers were outshot 21-10 with 12 of those shots being placed on goal... the corner kick battle went in favor of the Golden Wolves 3-1 and the Chargers tallied six saves for the game.

Up Next: The Chargers return home for a Monday afternoon game against Washington Adventist at 3:30 p.m. on September 9.
