The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team hosted United East Conference foe and current first place team, the Bryn Athyn Lions, on Saturday falling 62-51. The Chargers move to 6-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference while the Lions improve to 13-2 overall and 6-0 in conference.
How It Happened: The Chargers stood toe to toe with the Lions in the opening quarter taking a two-point lead at the end of the quarter off a layup from
Serene Calderon. Halfway through the second quarter the Chargers found their biggest lead yet as a layup from
Isabella Eufemia put the Chargers up to four points, 17-13. Despite the cushion, it was the Lions that ended the half with momentum going on a 14-4 run to take a 27-21 lead at half.
Keilani Araniva opened the second half with a jumper to bring the deficit to within four points for the Chargers, but the Lions continued with their momentum keeping a eight to nine point deficit through the third quarter. The Lions grew their lead to as much as 16 points in the fourth quarter to go on and win 62-51.
By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 28-percent from the floor, 12-percent from three, and 70-percent from the free throw line… the Lions shot 32-percent from the floor, 11-percent from three, and 89-percent from the line…
Rachel Nolt finished with a team best 13 points to go with six rebounds… Eufemia chipped in 12 points and Calderon added 10 points… Zhymani Smith scored a game high 26 points.
