The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team hosted their first of four tri-matches on the season, winning both games as they swept Widener 3-0 and took down Roanoke in five sets for a 3-2 win. The Chargers improve to 4-2 overall, while the Pride begin their season 0-2 and the Maroons move to 4-2 overall.
vs Widener – W, 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-17)
How it Happened:
The Chargers took control early with a 5-1 lead after back-to-back service aces from junior
Jake Rotelle, extending the lead to 12-4 after two kills from junior
Zach Herb. Widener tried to chip into the lead, but the Chargers controlled the set and finished it off 25-18.
The Pride challenged LBC early in set two, getting out to the lead 8-5 after a big block. The Chargers whittled down the lead with kills from senior
Dawson Forney and sophomore
Jordan Yoder, taking their first lead of the set at 15-14. Junior
Zach Wyant had a service ace to spark the team, then four Charger players combined for two blocks to tie the game at 20-20. Wyant finished off the set with a kill 25-22 to put LBC up 2-0 in the match.
The early portion of set three was tightly contested with four ties and contributions from Yoder and sophomore
Jaiden Flanagan with kills and aces. The Pride continued to swing well with a few kills in the middle of the set, Rattling off three straight points to take the lead at 15-14. The Chargers exploded from there, scoring seven in a row behind two kills from Forney and two aces from Yoder to finally separate, ending on a kill by Forney to seal the set 25-17 and finish the sweep.

This was the Chargers' first ever matchup with Widener in Men's Volleyball.
Zach Wyant has dished 20+ assists in each of his first five games in a Charger uniform, adding a team-leading 14 blocks through five games as well.
vs Roanoke – W, 3-2 (25-22, 25-21, 17-25, 18-25, 15-13)
How it Happened:
Roanoke grabbed an early 4-2 lead, but the Chargers scored four in a row, capped by a service ace from junior
Nicholas Marion. LBC later went on a five-point run with a kill from Marion and two blocks by
Zach Herb highlighting the run. The Maroons climbed back into the set with a 6-2 stretch to tie it at 20-all, but the Chargers closed well with five of the last seven including a big kill from Herb to win the set 25-22.
The Chargers never trailed in set two, breaking out to a seven-point lead after a block by
Jaiden Flanagan made the score 17-10 Chargers. Roanoke scrapped back into the set, going on three different three-point runs to once again tie the set at 20-all. The Chargers held strong, rattling off four in a row to close the set with an ace from sophomore
Zeke Clark and a block from
Jordan Yoder and Flanagan to win it 25-21.
Roanoke provided a big challenge for the Chargers in closing out the match, dominating the early portion of set three and eventually winning 25-17 to extend the match. The teams battled in the fourth set with 10 tied scores and three lead changes, with Marion, Flanagan, and
Dawson Forney landing kills to keep it close. The Maroons broke away with five in a row to go up 16-12, never looking back as they finished out the set 25-18 and forced a deciding fifth set in the Horst Athletic Center.
After leading 2-1 in set five on kills from Forney and Marion, the Maroons raced to four straight points for a 5-2 lead to force a LBC timeout. The Chargers regrouped and launched their own four-point streak, with Flanagan helping on two blocks and Yoder landing a kill to take the lead back 7-6. Forney went off for three kills in a row to help LBC lead 10-7 and shift the momentum, but Roanoke fought back to tie set five at 12-12. Herb knocked a kill to put LBC up two, then Marion put the finishing touches on a thrilling five-setter with a loud kill to give the Chargers the 15-13 set win and a 3-2 victory at home.
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers led in blocks 10-7, but the Maroons led narrowly in kills 51-50 and had more service aces at 9-5

Information to Know:
This was the Chargers' first ever matchup with Roanoke. The Chargers are now 2-1 in five-set matches this season, with their only loss coming on Wednesday against #14 Misericordia at home.
Dawson Forney has reached double-digit kills in five of six matches this season and leads the team with 89 total kills.
Jaiden Flanagan registered a career-high six blocks against the Maroons and now leads the Chargers so far this season with 17 total blocks.
