The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team traveled to St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday afternoon for a United East matchup with the Seahawks losing 65-57. The Chargers are now 7-10 overall and 4-5 in conference while the Seahawks improve to 11-6 overall and 8-0 in conference.
How It Happened: It was a busy first quarter as the Chargers and Seahawks tied the game or changed leads nine total times. It was a three-pointer from freshman
Natane White with just over a minute left to tie the game at 12-12 that helped give the Chargers momentum into the second quarter. Another three-pointer to start the second quarter from
Serene Calderon that gave them a 18-16 lead. The Chargers took the lead two more times including another three from White but a late three-pointer from the Seahawks gave them a 27-26 lead at halftime.
The Seahawks grew their lead to five points out of halftime, but the Chargers kept pace claiming a 32-31 lead after a converted and-one from
Jenna Dombach. With another lead change, the Seahawks took another five point lead before ending the third period 48-42. Seven more points to open the fourth quarter gave the Seahawks a demanding 13 point lead, 55-42. Despite the deficit the Chargers kept chipping away reaching single figures twice before a jumper from Calderon with 49-seconds left brought the deficit to within six points. It wasn't enough as the Seahawks sunk both free throws to seal the game 65-57.
By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 30-percent from the field, 36-percent from three, and 69-percent from the line… the Seahawks shot 40-percent from the field, 23-percent from three, and 50-percent from the line… Calderon finished with a team high 16 points and six rebounds…
Isabella Eufemia chipped in 14 points and five rebounds… Keira Mason finished with a game high 18 points for the Seahawks.
