The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team earned a big United East victory on Wednesday evening, beating Penn College 63-58 at home. The Chargers improve to 8-10 overall and 5-5 in the United East, while the Wildcats move to 11-8 overall and 8-2 in conference play.

How it Happened:
The Chargers scored first over a minute in on a jumper from junior Keilani Araniva, then took a 6-2 lead after a pair of fastbreak layups. The Wildcats fought back to take an 11-8 lead, but senior Serene Calderon knocked down a 3-pointer to tie it back up at 11-11. The Chargers ended the quarter on a 7-0 run with all seven scored by fifth year Jenna Dombach, giving LBC a 20-13 lead after 10 minutes.

The Wildcats cut the lead to six about a minute into the second quarter, then the Chargers launched another 7-0 run including a 3-pointer from sophomore Isabella Eufemia, helping extend the Charger lead to 13. Dombach hit another pair of jumpers, including a three with under a minute to go to help the Chargers take a 14-point lead into halftime at 36-22.

The Chargers struggled with turnovers and missed shots in the first part of the third quarter, seeing their 14-point lead erased as a Wildcats three tied the game at 38-all. Calderon and Eufemia each had layups to build the lead back to four, but Penn College responded right back to knot it up at 42-42. In the final minute, freshman Natane White knocked down a three and hit a pair of free throws to help the Chargers take a 47-43 lead into the final quarter.

Sophomore Rachel Nolt kicked off the final period with a pull-up jumper to put LBC up six early. Then, the Wildcats rattled of six straight points to tie the game at 49, but a corner three from Nolt and a strong layup from Eufemia put the Chargers back up five. Nolt scored again as the shot clock expired and got two more layups to go to help LBC lead 60-56 entering the final minute. A pair of free throws from Calderon helped seal the game as the Chargers escaped with a big win over the Wildcats at home.
