Chargers Tight Contest Against Neumann

The Lancaster Bible field hockey team hosted Neumann in a rescheduled matchup from September on Thursday, October 16. A second period goal proved to be the difference, as Knights edged the Chargers in a tightly contested game. With the result, the Chargers fall to 2–11 on the season while the Knights improve to 9–5.

How it Happened:
A scoreless, but not eventless first period as the Knights would put the pressure on early. Amanda Hoover would record a save 54 seconds into the game, followed up by a Knights penalty corner. The Chargers would defend well as a shot by the Knights would be blocked. Things would even out for the rest of the period, entering the second 0-0.

Lancaster Bible would continue to build a defense against Neumann as a shot would result in another save, to be followed by a corner soon after. Neumann would go on to earn one more corner which resulted in a save, followed up by a goal at the 26:46 mark. The period would close with Neumann leading 1-0.

The Chargers started the third period on the offensive forcing a penalty corner early. Riley Danko would get a shot off forcing a Knights save. The Knights would respond with a shot of their own, saved by Hoover. The Chargers would look to flip the field once more earning a penalty corner at the 37:38 mark. The period would remain scoreless through the 15 minutes.

The action continued into the fourth period as Neumann would record a penalty corner resulting in a blocked shot. Lancaster Bible would look to even things up with a shot on goal by Ayla Zwally, however a save would keep Neumann ahead. Lancaster Bible would get one last chance after a defensive stand, but a Gabby Dunlap shot would result in another Neumann save with time running out.

By the Numbers:
Chargers were outshot by the Knights 3-13, including 3-9 in shots on goal. The Knights would force 8 penalty corners to the Chargers 3. The Chargers would record 8 saves to the Knights 3. Natalia Thomas was the lone scorer of the game.

The Chargers will host their final home game Wednesday October 22nd at 6:00 p.m. against Penn State Harrisburg.
