Men's Soccer Prepped for United East Quarterfinal

The United East Conference Postseason has arrived as the Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team earned the 6-seed in the postseason tournament, finishing with a 4-3-1 conference record and a Quarterfinal berth. The Chargers will travel to take on the 3-seed Penn St. Abington on the road on Saturday, November 1 at 1:00 p.m. in a rematch of last year's Quarterfinal where the Lions were victorious 2-0 over the Chargers.

Season Recap
The Chargers finished the regular season with a record of 8-6-3 overall and a 4-3-1 United East mark, earning wins over Wilson, Valley Forge, Gallaudet, and Penn St. Berks with a 1-1 draw against Penn St. Harrisburg. The Chargers' offense averaged an impressive 2.59 goals per game, setting a Division III program record with 12 goals at home against Gallaudet on October 11 and scoring 3+ goals in six contests this season. Lancaster Bible is led by senior Andrew Cox with 32 total points this year, leading the United East in goals during the regular season with 13, sporting four multi-goal games and three total hat-tricks this season, all in conference play. Heading into the postseason, Cox is tied for 21st in the nation in scoring and tied for 19th in total points. Junior Dan Marcroft has also highlighted the offensive side of the ball for the Chargers, scoring five goals with two assists this year, as well as sophomore transfer Silas Dellaperute with four goals and three assists this year. Highlighting the defense is freshman goalkeeper Micah Dressler, tallying 65 total saves this season with at least six saves in seven games and a 1.46 goals against average.

Previous Matchup
The Chargers and Lions met on October 15 in Lancaster, Pa. as Penn St. Abington defeated Lancaster Bible 1-0. Dressler made six total saves in goal and Dellaperute and senior Stephen Christner each had a team-high two shots, but a second-half goal by Israel Gonzalez in the 63rd minute was enough to help the Lions steal a win in Lancaster en route to a 6-1-1 conference record and the #3 seed in the postseason.
