The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team opened United East Conference play on Saturday morning as they traveled to face Penn St. Harrisburg, falling by a score of 9-1. The Chargers fall to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in conference while the Lions improve to 9-1 overall and 1-0 in conference.

How it Happened:

Amanda Hoover managed a save in the first two minutes, but the Lions sent an ambush and netted three total goals in the first five minutes of play to race to a 3-0 lead. Just before the 10-minute mark, Harrisburg added another score, then another less than a minute later for a 5-0 advantage. To wrap up a disastrous first quarter, the Lions tacked on two more goals to end the first period with a massive 7-0 lead. The Chargers had a much better second quarter as they held the Lions to just one shot that was saved by Hoover, and junior
Julia Petrie put a shot on goal that was saved. The half ended with the Lions holding a seven-goal lead.

The Chargers had another shot on goal in the third quarter as freshman
Bailey Simmons forced a save by the Lions' keeper, but with three minutes to go in the quarter Harrisburg punched in another score off a corner to lead by eight. Three minutes into the fourth, the Lions added yet another goal, but Lancaster Bible finally ended the drought as freshman
Rebekah Hoover scored her first career goal off a penalty corner with the assist to junior
Riley Danko, giving the Chargers a score as they ended the game in a 9-1 defeat.
