Men’s Soccer Earns Draw at Harrisburg

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team played their third road United East game in a row on Tuesday night as they faced Penn St. Harrisburg, earning a 1-1 draw. The Chargers move to 5-4-3 overall and 2-1-1 in conference while the Lions move to 4-6-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference.

How it Happened:
The Chargers survived an early ambush of shots from the Lions as they earned three corner kicks in five minutes, with freshman Micah Dressler making two saves in goal. Sophomore Silas Dellaperute fired the Chargers' first shot of the game on goal to force a save, then Harrisburg controlled the next ten minutes of play with three more corners and two more saves from Dressler. Sophomore Joel Walker had a header shot late in the half that missed wide, bringing the half to a close with neither team finding the scoreboard.

It was Lancaster Bible that struck first in the second half in the 55th minute as senior Lucas Durkin launched a long pass from behind the midfield line to Dellaperute on the right side, who launched a killer shot across the field into the top left corner of the goal for a score, putting LBC on the board in emphatic fashion to take the lead on the road. Harrisburg had an answer nine minutes later as they forced another save by Dressler, then got a goal to go in in the 64th minute to tie the game up at 1-1. Seniors Stephen Christner and Andrew Cox each had shots down the stretch for the Chargers, with Cox's shot on goal coming in the final minute, but neither team could strike again as the teams worked a 1-1 conference draw.
