The 3-seed Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team made the trip down to St. Mary's City, Md. on Tuesday night to take on 2-seed St. Mary's (Md.) in the United East Semifinals, falling in straight sets 3-0 and seeing their season come to an end. The Chargers finish their season at 17-12 overall while the Seahawks improve to 16-14 overall and advance to the United East Championship against Penn St. Harrisburg on Saturday.

How it Happened:
The score was tight early in set one as juniors
Lea Sareyka and
Eden Belford landed kills. At a one-point game, the Chargers scored four straight points behind three Charger kills for their largest lead of the set at 11-6. Sareyka and sophomore
Madison Reap had kills to hold the lead, but the Seahawks battled back late to tie the set at 18-18, then after two more ties the Seahawks swung ahead 22-20 after a service ace. Belford had another kill to keep LBC in it, but the Seahawks went on to close out set one 25-22 to take a 1-0 match lead.

The Chargers took a 3-0 lead set two with kills from Sareyka and Belford, then extended the lead to 7-3 following a service ace from junior
Tessa Kwiatkowski. St. Mary's (Md.) swung in front 9-8 after a four-point run, then exploded in the middle of the set to take a 16-9 advantage before a Reap kill halted the run. The Seahawks got the lead up to eight and forced a LBC timeout, then the Chargers got back within four at 20-16 after a setter dump by junior
Madeline Reed and a big LBC block. The teams traded back and forth for the rest of the set, with the Seahawks closing it out 25-20 to take a commanding 2-0 match lead.

The two teams traded scores for the first eight points, then the Chargers went up 6-4 before going up 9-6 with help from a kill from junior
Jessica Fletcher. The Seahawks rallied to tie the set at 9-9, then took the lead 12-11 on a solo block before Belford knocked another kill. The Seahawks swung the board to take a 16-13 lead and force a Chargers timeout, then the Chargers got the next two points to cut the lead to one. St. Mary's (Md.) pulled ahead again by five, but Reap had both a kill and a service ace to cut it to 22-20 and force a Seahawks timeout. A Sareyka kill and another two aces from Reap swung the Chargers back in front late for a five-point run at 23-22. After forcing extra points, the Seahawks hung on to win the set 26-24 and sweep the Chargers to advance to the United East title game.

Jessica Fletcher now holds the program record for kills in the conference playoffs with 51 kills across seven postseason games.
Madeline Reed now has the second-most assist in postseason history with 122 assists in six playoff games.
Madison Reap becomes the second player in the Chargers' playoff history to land 10+ service aces, sitting at 12 aces in United East postseason play in four games. The careers of three Chargers came to an end tonight as

Riley Dodrer, and
Jessica Hendricks have all played their final games in a Chargers uniform. Timberlake entered the top-10 all-time for the Chargers' program history in digs with 863 after tonight's match, leading the conference in digs this season with 480 in total. Dodrer added two blocks tonight, finishing her career in fourth place all-time with 134 block assists and seventh all-time in total blocks with 159. Hendricks ends her three years in Lancaster with 20 kills and 34 total blocks.
