Chargers Down Wolverines, Improve to 3-0

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team played their second game of the Geneva Classic on Saturday afternoon, defeating Grove City 85-69 to win both games this weekend. The Chargers improve to 3-0 overall while the Wolverines drop to 1-2 overall.

* In addition, two Lancaster Bible players were named to the All-Tournament team for this weekend, with junior Connor Storr and senior Luke Rumbaugh earning the honors with Storr being named tournament MVP.

How it Happened:
Grove City came out firing in the first half, getting out to a 12-2 lead over LBC about six minutes in. The Chargers cut it to five with a layup by freshman Landon Zeiset, but the Wolverines kept the lead at six points at the halfway mark of the first half. Junior Trey Grube knocked down a three to cut the lead in half, then later Connor Storr had back-to-back buckets in the paint to tie the game at 19. Luke Rumbaugh put the Chargers in front with a tip-in layup, then had another to cap an 11-point run for the Chargers as they got out to a seven-point lead with six minutes to go. Grove City then scored seven straight to cut it to one, then swung in front 35-32 before Rumbaugh tied it back up at 35. With time winding down, junior Camden Hurst scored a layup with one second left to give LBC a 40-39 lead at halftime.

Hurst began the half with another score, then sophomore Bennett Bowers completed an and-one layup off an assist from Storr to get the lead back to six. Grube had two more threes around the 10-minute mark of the half for an eight-point Charger lead, then Storr made the lead 10 points on a made 3-pointer. The Wolverines fought to get the deficit down to three, but the Chargers ended the game on an 18-5 scoring run with several key layups and good free throw shooting helping close the door on their 16-point win and keeping LBC unbeaten through three games this season.

By the Numbers:
- The Chargers shot 46-percent from the floor, 27-percent from 3-point range, and a season-best 79-percent from the free throw line
