Chargers Fall in Semi-Final Matchup

The Lancaster Bible field hockey team took the trip to St. Mary's City, Md. to play number one seed St. Mary's (Md.). The Chargers would look to extend their season, but the Seahawks would be too much. The Chargers would end the season with a 3-13 record, as the Seahawks improve to 12-5 on the year, as they advance to the United East Championship game.

How it Happened:
The Charger's defense would be put to the test early, as a shot by the Seahawks went wide. Less than a minute later, the Seahawks would score the first goal of the game. As the Chargers continued to defend, the Seahawks would continue to take shots, until the 3:36 mark would put the Seahawks up 2-0. Amanda Hoover would continue to hold her ground, recording three saves in a row, but one final try by the Seahawks would increase the lead to 3-0 at the end of the first period.

Lancaster Bible would continue to be on the defensive end, as Amanda Hoover would record three more saves in a matter of ten seconds. St. Mary's would earn a penalty shot, resulting in their fourth goal of the game. A little over a minute later they would add goal number five. Lancaster Bible would keep the last nine minutes of the half scoreless, as St. Mary's continued to apply pressure.

The second half would start with the Seahawks earning a penalty shot that was saved by Amanda Hoover. The Seahawks would continue to pressure increasing the lead to 6-0. A few minutes later they would add goal number seven. The Chargers continued to defend against two corners and two shots on goal, before the lead was extended to 8-0, entering the fourth period.

Amelia Huey would earn her first save of the game less than a minute into the fourth period, after the St. Mary's corner. Lancaster Bible would return the pressure with a penalty corner of their own which resulted in a shot by Rebekah Hoover that was blocked. St. Mary's would finish off the game with one final goal making the final result 9-0.

By the Numbers:
Chargers were outshot by the Seahawks 1-51 and 0-33 in shots on goal. St. Mary's would force 18 penalty corners to Lancaster Bible's one. The Chargers would record 24 saves to the Seahawks zero.
