The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team hosted the five-seed Penn St. Berks on Saturday evening for the United East Quarterfinals, with the Lions defeating the Chargers 2-1. The Lions move onto the semi-finals and will play Penn St. Harrisburg while the Chargers end their season 10-7 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
How It Happened: Penn St.-Berks wasted no time asserting itself, breaking through in the eighth minute when Maya Dolan found the back of the net off a well-placed assist from Devon Deery. The visitors struck again in the 35th minute as Faith Wavershak capitalized on another setup from Deery, giving Berks a commanding 2–0 lead before halftime.
Lancaster Bible refused to go quietly, controlling possession and generating pressure throughout the second half. The Chargers broke through in the 65th minute when
Leah Iman converted a cross from
Janae Bergey, slicing the deficit in half. Despite outshooting Berks 9–2 after the break, Lancaster Bible couldn't find the equalizer, as Berks goalkeeper Sophia Gonzalez came up clutch with several key saves in the closing minutes.
