The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team tipped off their 2025-26 season in dramatic fashion on Saturday night, using a double-digit comeback in the second half to defeat Washington & Jefferson at home 92-88. The Chargers begin their season 1-0 overall while the Presidents start at 0-1 overall for the year.
How it Happened:
After over a minute scoreless, the Presidents got on the board first with a jumper, then junior
Daniel King scored the Chargers' first points on a pair of free throws over two and a half minutes in. After some more free throws for the Chargers, senior
Tyshaun Pulley had the first field goal of the game for LBC on a pull-up jumper, then Washington & Jefferson got out to a 16-9 lead at the eight-minute mark. Sophomore
Bennett Bowers knocked down a three-pointer for his first Charger points, then layups from junior
Camden Hurst and Pulley quickly swung the Chargers into the lead and Bowers added one for a 19-16 lead. The Presidents retook the lead over the next few minutes, but Hurst got LBC back in front with back-to-back threes to make it 32-29 LBC. The Presidents were able to take the lead back and enter halftime up two points on the Chargers 42-40 after 20 minutes.
Senior
Reaves Hooks tied the game at 42 right out of the half with a fast-break layup, then junior
Connor Storr put LBC in front 48-47 on a layup. The Presidents began to surge from there, taking the lead back and going on a 15-4 run to lead by nine points with under 14 minutes to play. Hooks and King each had buckets for the Chargers, but Washington & Jefferson kept building as they boosted the lead all the way to 14 points at 75-61 with 10:22 remaining in the game. Sophomore
Doug Adiok ended their run with a layup, then Hurst made an and-one layup and hit the free throw to get the lead back down to seven. This began a Chargers surge as senior
Luke Rumbaugh made a tight floater and Storr knocked down an and-one layup, then Storr had another layup off a fast-break to tie the game up at 75-75 and erase a 14-point deficit in just three minutes of game time. The Presidents went back up by four, but free throws from Rumbaugh and a layup by Hurst tied it back up at 83 with under four minutes to go. Storr scored the next seven points for the Chargers as they pulled ahead 90-87 with 35 seconds remaining, then some missed free throws by W&J and good shooting from the line by the Chargers helped seal the comeback win in their season opener as they took down the Presidents 92-88 in front of a roaring HAC crowd.
