The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team kicked off their 2025-26 season at home on Saturday evening as they hosted Eastern, falling by a score of 69-46. The Chargers begin the year 0-1 overall while the Eagles begin their season 1-0 overall.
How it Happened:
The Eagles took a quick 6-0 lead after free throws and a made 3-pointer, then sophomore
Shania Stoltzfus scored the first points of the Chargers' season on an assist from freshman
Emma Christner, her first career dime. Junior
Rachel Nolt was the next to score for the Chargers on a layup in the paint, then Stoltzfus had another good jumper. The Chargers had four more made free throws in the quarter, but trailed 23-13 at the end of the period.
Freshman
Emily Wilson got her first career points on a fast-break layup in the first minute of quarter two, then Eastern went on a 9-0 run with three made threes to bolster the lead to 19. Nolt halted the run with a free throw, then Wilson added a pair of layups to get the Chargers past 20 points. The Chargers had a few more made free throws in the quarter, but entered halftime trailing by 15 at 38-23.
The third quarter was all Eastern as they outscored the Chargers 17-6 in the period while Nolt had a pair of good field goals. Wilson and Christner each had buckets early in the fourth quarter, then Stoltzfus drained a three-pointer about halfway through the period. Junior
Isabella Eufemia knocked down a three late in the game, but the Chargers went on to lose by 23 in their first game of the season.
