Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Second Half Rally Falls Short for Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team hosted the Penn St. Harrisburg Lions on Monday night after a reschedule from Saturday evening. The Chargers efforts in the second half were not enough as the Lions went on to win 85-80. The Chargers move to 16-7 overall and 11-3 in the United East while the Lions improve to 16-7 and 13-2 in conference action.

How It Happened: Maureon Tisdale-Couch opened the game with a layup for the Chargers as the two teams began to trade baskets. Neither team's lead would grow over two points as Luke Rumbaugh sank two free throws at 13:00 to take a 14-13 lead. It was the last lead the Chargers saw in the first half as the Lions began to create momentum and extend their lead. The Chargers faced a 46-26 deficit at halftime.

Coming out of halftime the Lions converted an and-one to push their lead to as much as 23 points but something clicked for the Chargers as Connor Storr scored five straight points and grabbed another steal. It was three forced turnovers in a row from the Chargers that brought the crowd to their feet as the team began to show life. A steal from Tyshaun Pulley leading to a three-pointer from Nile Austin brought the deficit to within single digits for the first time since the beginning of the game, 52-43.

Continuing to put pressure on the Lions, the Chargers hovered around the 6 to 10 point deficit mark until a steal and layup in transition from Pulley brought the score to 73-70 with just over four minutes left to play. Free throws from Camden Hurst continued to keep the Chargers within a one possession game. Another layup from Hurst at 1:12 brought the game to 77-75 but a foul and free throws from the Lions pushed the margin again. For the next minute the Chargers played the clock and fouled. The Lions converted their free throws as the Chargers were unable to find anymore breaks as their run fell short and the Lions won 85-80.

By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 38-percent from the field, 28-percent from three, and 76-percent from the free throw line… the Lions were 51-percent from the field, 36-percent from three, and 70-percent from the line… the Chargers had 21 points off their forced turnovers and 19 fast break points… Rumbaugh and Storr had 14 points each as Hurst and Pulley added 13 and 12 respectively… Isaiah Eggleston had a game high 27 points and 15 rebounds for the Lions.

Up Next: The Chargers will head to Notre Dame (Md.) this week, a game that is being rescheduled due to weather, before returning for Senior Day on Saturday, February 15 at 3:00 p.m.
