The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team traveled to Elizabethtown on Saturday morning for a matchup with the Blue Jays falling in five sets, 3-2. The Chargers are now 8-5 overall while the Blue Jays improve to 10-4 overall and are 1-1 in conference action.
How It Happened: The first set proved to be a glimpse of what was to come for the Chargers, a battle. The Blue Jays controlled a 17-12 lead in the first set before a furious 8-0 run from the Chargers reclaimed a 20-17 lead. The Chargers responded to the 26-25 deficit with three straight points to win the first set 28-26.
The Blue Jays won set two and set four by a combined four points while the Chargers stole set three 25-20.
Coming down to set five, a replay of what happened earlier this season, the Blue Jays took another commanding 9-5 lead to set the tone. That was until a kill from Nichola Marion tied the game at 11-11. Despite tying the game, the Blue Jays continued to pour on the attack eventually winning 15-13 to win the match.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had 51 kills, 15 blocks, and 52 digs… the Blue Jays had 49 kills, six aces, and 55 digs…
Dawson Forney had a team high 15 kills and five blocks…
Jordan Yoder had 14 kills and 10 digs…
Kevin Bryant tallied a game high 11 blocks…
Zach Wyant dished out 45 assists and
Tyler Martin had 15 digs… Arun Gopinath had 16 kills for the Blue Jays.
