The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team made the trip to Grantham, Pa. on Tuesday evening to take on 11th-ranked Messiah, losing in straight sets on the road. The Chargers fall to 6-4 overall while the Falcons improve to 9-1 overall.
How it Happened:
The teams traded points back and forth early in the match with ties at the first seven points, with four different Chargers landing kills and sophomore
Jordan Yoder finding the floor for a service ace. Messiah was able to create the separation they needed with a four-point run to make it 11-7, never surrendering that lead. The Chargers had three in a row late as sophomore
Jaiden Flanagan had a block and a kill, but the Falcons closed out a close set 25-20.
Senior
Dawson Forney had a kill early in set two, then a block by Flanagan and junior
Nicholas Marion gave the Chargers a 3-2 lead. After a 4-4 tie, the Falcons went on another big run as they rattled off a match-high seven straight points to take an 11-4 lead. It was all Messiah for the rest of set two, finishing with five of the last six points to win the set 25-13.
Set three started with another big Falcons run as they raced to a 5-1 advantage, then scored another five in a row later to lead 12-4 in the set. The Chargers began to chip away, cutting the lead to six after a service ace from junior
Zach Wyant. Lancaster Bible pulled within four late in the set with help from kills by sophomore
Kevin Bryant, but the Falcons finished the job as they took the set 25-20 and finished the 3-0 match win.
