Chargers Trump Highlanders, Clinch Playoff Berth

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team beat the Cairn Highlanders on Wednesday night 63-42 to secure their seventh conference win and a spot in the 2025 United East Conference Playoffs. The Chargers improve to 10-11 overall and 7-6 in conference while the Highlanders drop to 1-18 overall and 0-13 in conference action.

How It Happened: The Chargers used a huge 24-5 first quarter to get things rolling. Five different Chargers scored in the first quarter with freshman Natane White pouring in eight points including back to back three-pointers to end the quarter. Serene Calderon opened the second quarter with a steal and a layup as the Chargers continued to find fast break opportunities. Rachel Nolt ended the first half with a two-point jumper at the right wing to put the halftime lead to 38-16.

Back-to-back triples from Jenna Dombach and White pushed the score to as much as 28-points in favor of the Chargers. Their lead grew to as much as 30-points by the end of the quarter as a layup from Nolt put the lead to 54-24. The Highlanders were able to gather some momentum in the fourth quarter while the Chargers were able to see some new faces on the floor as the additions of Faith Rex, Faith Hammond, Chloe Belford, and Eden Belford all got a chance to get on the floor.

By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 39-percent from the floor, 30-percent from three, and 70-percent from the line… the Highlanders were 26-percent from the field, 15-percent from three, and 57-percent from the free throw line… the Chargers had 16 assists and 11 fast break points… Nolt finished with a game high 22 points and seven rebounds… White added 12 points and three three-pointers… Kailee Sobrino scored 18 points for the Highlanders.
