The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team kicked off the month of March with a home tri-match on Saturday, defeating Eastern 3-1 and falling to #2 Southern Virginia 3-0. The Chargers move to 11-6 overall and 1-0 in the United East, while the Eagles fall to 13-8 overall and 1-1 in the MAC and the Knights improve to 15-0 and 2-0 in the CVC.
vs Eastern –
Win, 3-1 (25-14, 25-15, 18-25, 25-22)
How it Happened:
The teams traded the first 14 points of the set, with seven ties and a lead change in that span. The Chargers pulled away in the middle of the set with a 6-0 scoring run, starting and ending with a block and a kill by sophomore
Jaiden Flanagan and senior
Dawson Forney landing two service aces. Sophomore
Jordan Yoder landed a service ace towards the end of the set, with Forney finishing it off 25-14 with a kill to hand LBC a set win.
The second set began similar to the first with the teams battling early, but back-to-back service aces by sophomore
Carson Hoover put the Chargers up 10-5, then a five-point run created lots of separation for LBC highlighted by junior
Tyler Martin's first career solo block. The Chargers finished another four-point run with a kill from Flanagan late in the set, winning 25-15 and taking commanding 2-0 match lead.
Despite several leads, the Chargers stumbled in the third set while Eastern pulled away late, dropping the set 25-18 to force another. Lancaster Bible grabbed the early lead in set four after back-to-back blocks by Flanagan put LBC up 6-2. A 6-1 run in the middle of the set helped the Chargers separate from the Eagles, with a pair of kills from Hoover leading the charge. The Eagles fought back with a late 6-1 run of their own, but the Chargers rode three kills from Forney to victory as they won the set 25-22 to close out Eastern in four sets.

- The Chargers finished with more kills (48-32) and service aces (9-4), while the Eagles led in blocks with 14 to the Chargers' eight

The Chargers improve to 3-0 all-time against Eastern and have their second three-game win streak of the season.
Tyler Martin has double-doubles in back-to-back games with 39 assists and 10 digs on Friday night and 43 assists and 11 digs this morning. Martin also reached 150 digs on the season, leading the team.
Jordan Yoder reached 150 kills on the season against Eastern.
vs #2 Southern Virginia –
Loss, 0-3 (19-25, 20-25, 21-25)
How it Happened:
Dawson Forney began the match with a kill, but the Knights took control early as they went up 5-2. This lead ballooned to nine points after a 7-0 run by SVU to lead 16-7 over LBC. It was a battle throughout the middle of the set as the Chargers chipped away, with kills from
Jaiden Flanagan and sophomore
Kevin Bryant leading the way. The Chargers pulled within five late in the set after a service ace by
Jordan Yoder, but the Knights closed out the set 25-19.
Southern Virginia got out to the lead again in the second set with a 7-2 spurt to lead 10-4.
Carson Hoover and
Dawson Forney helped the Chargers close the gap with kills to pull within two points at 13-11. Lancaster Bible brought it back to two points on a service ace by
Tyler Martin, but the Knights finished off set two 25-20 by scoring four of the final five points.
The Chargers showed life in the third set, finding their largest lead of the match at three points on several occasions with three kills and a block from Yoder early on. The Knights worked to close the gap, then stormed ahead by five points after a 7-1 run to take the lead back. The Chargers kept it close with several kills from Forney and Hoover, but Southern Virginia closed with the last three points to win the set 25-21 and finish off the Chargers, staying unbeaten on the season.

Information to Know:
The Chargers are now 2-10 all-time against Southern Virginia, with the Knights winning the previous nine contests and sweeping the past eight matches dating back to 2022. This was the Chargers' sixth matchup this season against an AVCA Top-20 team, facing lots of strong competition early in the year.
Tyler Martin now has four consecutive games with 30+ assists after moving to the setter position against Cairn on February 18, notching two games of 10+ digs in that span as well.
