Chargers Sweep Wilson on the Road

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team had a United East Conference matchup with Wilson on Wednesday night beating the Phoenix in three sets, 3-0. The Chargers improve to 12-6 overall and 2-0 in conference while the Phoenix drop to 8-12 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

How It Happened: The two teams began the night trading point by point with the Phoenix just on the Chargers heels. With a 15-14 lead, the Chargers pieced together a 11-2 run to win set one 25-16. Dawson Forney and Carson Hoover had back-to-back kills to seal the first set.

The Phoenix jumped ahead 4-1 in the second set and were able to maintain the lead winning by as much as five points. With a 20-15 lead and all the momentum in the second set, a kill from Jordan Yoder sparked a four point burst as Forney and Kevin Bryant had two blocks and Forney added a kill of his own to bring the Chargers within one. It was Forney, Bryant, and Yoder who continued to carry the Chargers to a 6-1 run and a second set victory 25-22.

Keeping with their momentum, the Chargers opened the third set on a 9-1 tear and cruised to a 25-12 third set win and conference victory.

  • The Chargers had 40 kills, eight aces, 37 assists, and 30 digs.
  • The Phoenix had 26 kills, six blocks, 25 assists, and 26 digs.
  • Jordan Yoder had a game high 15 kills and added two aces.
  • Dawson Forney had nine kills, two blocks, and six digs.
  • Tyler Martin contributed 33 assists and six digs.
