The Lancaster Bible College Softball team played their first home games of 2025 on Wednesday evening as they hosted Stevenson, falling by scores of 4-3 and 8-5. The Chargers fall to 5-4 overall while the Mustangs improve to 3-0 overall.
Game 1: 3-4 Loss
How it Happened:
Both teams pitched a scoreless first inning, then the Chargers struck first in the bottom of the second as sophomore
KariAnn Mecke scored on a sacrifice fly by sophomore
Riley Danko. The Chargers added to their lead in the third inning with Mecke involved once again, this time driving in graduate student
Phoebe Clemens on a single to give LBC a 2-0 lead. Stevenson got their first run of the game in the fourth on a sacrifice fly, pulling within one after four innings.
The Mustangs and Chargers each went scoreless over the next two innings, both getting runners on base but not being able to bring them home. The Mustangs rallied in the top of the seventh inning, scoring three runs to erase the deficit and take a 4-2 lead. The Chargers were down to their last three outs, but held off with a RBI-single by Clemens to score freshman
Maggie Kwiatkowski, cutting the lead to one. That would be the end of the rally for Lancaster Bible as they fell 4-3 in game one.
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers plated three runs on six hits with two errors, while the Mustangs scored four runs including a three-run seventh inning on nine hits with three errors

Game 2: 5-8 Loss
How it Happened:
The Chargers retired Stevenson 1-2-3 in the first inning and kept them without a hit in the second as well, then took the lead in the bottom of the third inning when they pulled a double steal, allowing
Phoebe Clemens to score the first run of the game. After a scoreless fourth inning, the Chargers added to the lead in the fifth with two more runs.
Maggie Kwiatkowski came through with a triple to left field, scoring senior
Kylee Cole. Then, Clemens drove Kwiatkowski home on a groundout to extend the lead to 3-0.
Things began to unravel for the Chargers in the sixth inning as Stevenson loaded the bases with two outs, then got a run in on a walk and capitalized on an error to score two more and tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth. The Chargers went 1-2-3 in the bottom frame to enter the final inning locked at three, then the Mustangs let loose in the seventh with five total runs, forcing a pitching change for LBC and sending nine batters to the plate to take an 8-3 lead. The Chargers showed fight in the final inning once again, plating two on a triple by Clemens, but were stopped short of a comeback as Stevenson closed out the two-game sweep on an 8-5 victory.
