The Lancaster Bible College Softball team traveled to Valley Forge for a pair of games on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the day as they won 15-5 in six innings and 18-3 in five innings. The Chargers improve to 7-4 overall while the Patriots
Game 1: 15-5 Win (6 inn.)
How it Happened:
The Chargers hopped on the board early with three runs in the first inning. Freshman
Maggie Kwiatkowski knocked a lead-off triple, then scored on a single by junior
Alyssa Taylor for the first run of the game. Junior
Amanda Hoover hit a triple to score Taylor, then freshman
Danielle Wilson singled to score Hoover to give LBC a 3-0 lead after one. In the second inning, junior
Maddison Atkins hit a triple to score Kwiatkowski, then Hoover reached on an error that scored Atkins to boost the lead to 5-0.
After a scoreless third inning, the Chargers added three more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth for a 9-0 lead. Taylor connected on a two-run double and Wilson had a RBI-groundout to score Taylor in the fourth inning, then Kwiatkowski drove in a run on a groundout in the fifth inning. Valley Forge showed fight in the bottom of the fifth, plating four runs on three hits to cut the deficit to five. The Chargers put the game away in the top of the sixth, starting with another RBI-single by Wilson and a two-RBI single by junior
Amelia Huey. Kwiatkowski drove in two more on a single, then Atkins plated another on a single to wrap a six-run sixth inning, helping the Chargers close out a 15-5 win over the Patriots.

Game 2: 18-3 Win (5 inn.)
How it Happened:
Another strong start for the Chargers led to a first inning lead, this time for eight total runs to open the game. After
Maggie Kwiatkowski scored,
Alyssa Taylor and graduate student
Phoebe Clemens both scored on wild pitches to make it 3-0 early. Later in the inning, sophomore
Riley Danko knocked a double to drive in two runners, then Taylor singled to drive in a run to cap the eight-run frame. The Chargers used a pair of two-RBI singles from freshman
Ila Rowatti and Kwiatkowski to score four more runs in the second inning to reach a 12-0 lead, meanwhile the Patriots were hitless through two innings.
The Chargers were not done as another five runs came across the plate in the third inning. Cleland drove in two runs on a single, then Taylor was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in Cleland. Clemens knocked in two runs on a single to extend the lead to 17-0 after just three innings of play. In the fourth, the Chargers added another as
Amelia Huey drove a run in on a fielder's choice. The Patriots were able to plate three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it was not enough as the Chargers closed out a huge offensive day with an 18-3 victory.

- The Chargers scored a season-high 18 runs on 12 hits and committed just one error, while the Patriots scored three runs on four hits with one error
