Game Recap: Baseball |

Late Run Pushes Monarchs Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team traveled to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on Tuesday afternoon falling 9-8 in the bottom of the 9th inning. The Chargers move to 8-9 overall while the Monarchs drop to 4-9 overall.

How It Happened: Nick Colarossi got things going early for the Chargers on a single to third base to score Dylan Witkowski and put the Chargers on top 1-0. Both teams would struggle to bring runs across home plate until the bottom of the 4th inning where the Monarchs were able to score four runs on three hits.

The Chargers found a swift response however as Evan Sareyka opened the inning with a three run homerun followed by another two run shot by Colarossi. Another Witkowski score brought their lead to 7-4 after six innings of play. Monarchs scored two more in their side of the inning to close the gap 7-6.

An error in the 7th inning brought Malachi Sloane home and gave the Chargers a two-run cushion, 8-6. But the Monarchs again answered this time tying it at 8-8 on a two run single. Keeping things even through the top of nine innings, it was the Monarchs that came away with the winning run in the bottom of the 9th to win the game 9-8 on a single to left field.
