Men’s Volleyball Honors Seniors with Tri-Match Sweep

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, hosting both Penn St. Schuylkill in non-conference play and Saint Elizabeth in United East action, sweeping both teams 3-0. The Chargers improve to 17-6 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play while the Lions fall to 0-15 overall and the Eagles move to 4-15 overall and 1-4 in United East play.

vs Penn St. Schuylkill – Win, 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-17)

How it Happened:
After falling behind 3-2 early in the set, the Chargers took the lead 6-4 on a kill by sophomore Zeke Clark. The Chargers launched a seven-point run behind three straight service aces by Clark, then junior Jake Rotelle got a kill and freshman Cristian Villa landed a service ace to extend the lead to 18-7. Lancaster Bible won seven of the final eight points, punctuated by a kill and an ace by Rotelle to close out set one 25-9.

The Lions tied set two at 2-2 just like the first set, but the Chargers took control again as junior Zach Wyant landed a service ace to make it 8-4 LBC. An ace by freshman Timothy Fletcher and kills from Rotelle and junior Zach Herb helped propel the Chargers on an 8-2 run to lead 19-10 in the set. Penn St. Schuylkill made a late push, but the Chargers finished off the set on a Rotelle kill 25-16 to go up 2-0 in the match.

For the third straight set, the Chargers led 2-1 in the set, but this time the Lions hung around, battling back-and-forth and trading points with the Chargers. The Lions were within two throughout the middle of the set before Lancaster Bible began to pull away, using kills by Rotelle, Herb, and sophomore Devin Galloway to take a 21-16 lead. The Chargers ended the set with four straight points, including two service aces from Herb to close it out 25-17 and sweep the Lions.

By the Numbers:
- The Chargers dominated in kills 33-13 and landed 15 service aces to the Lions' two, while Penn St. Schuylkill had two blocks and the Chargers had none
- Jake Rotelle led the Chargers with 11 kills
- Zeke Clark added six kills and a match-high four service aces
- Timothy Fletcher dished 29 assists and landed three service aces
- The Lions were led by Jeremiah Miller with a team-high seven kills

Information to Know:
The Chargers have surpassed their season win total from last season with their 16th victory today, making it five straight wins for Lancaster Bible.
vs Saint Elizabeth – Win, 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-11)

How it Happened:
The first set was tight early with eight ties and five lead changes between the Eagles and Chargers. Lancaster Bible surged in front for good with a 10-1 scoring run aces from senior Dawson Forney and sophomore Carson Hoover and kills from Forney and sophomore Jordan Yoder. The Chargers closed on a 14-2 run as they won the last four points, ending on a Hoover kill to wrap set one 25-15.

The Chargers used an ace from Yoder and a kill by Hoover to jump to a 4-1 lead, but the Eagles tied it up at four to keep it close. Forney powered a five-point run with a kill and an ace, then sophomore Jaiden Flanagan started another three-point run with a kill to put LBC up 13-6. The Chargers all but secured set two on a six-point burst late in the set, closing with an ace by Zeke Clark to win the set 25-11.

The Chargers got out to a hot start, scoring the first six points of set three with kills by Yoder and Hoover and a service ace by junior Tyler Martin. Flanagan landed a kill to put the Chargers up 12-5, then Flanagan landed three aces amidst a six-point run by Lancaster Bible to lead 20-7. Hoover landed two kills late to seal the set, giving the Chargers the 25-11 win and a 3-0 victory in United East play over the Eagles.

By the Numbers:
- The Chargers led in every category, dominating in kills 31-13 and totaling eight blocks while holding the Eagles to zero
- Carson Hoover led the Chargers with a match-high 12 kills and nine digs
- Jordan Yoder added six kills and nine digs
- Jaiden Flanagan finished with three kills, three aces, and four blocks
- The Eagles were led by Kodi Peters with a team-high six kills

Information to Know:
The Chargers extend their season-long win streak to six games and have yet to lose a set in conference play this season as they improve to 4-0 in the United East with four straight sweeps. In addition, Lancaster Bible has never lost a set in conference play since rejoining the CSAC/United East in 2023, going 16-0 over a three-season span with a 3-0 win in each match. The Chargers entered today's match ranked 13th in NCAA Division III in blocks per set with 2.11 and 20th in the nation in team win-loss percentage at .714, now at .739 on the season with two wins today.
