The Lancaster Bible College Softball team traveled to the King's College (Pa.) Monarchs on Thursday afternoon for a non-conference double-header losing both games by a narrow margin, 8-4 and 6-5. The Chargers are now 10-8 overall while the Monarchs improve to 8-10 overall.
Game One, 8-4 Loss
The Monarchs knocked in a run to open the day but the Chargers claimed their first lead of the game in the top of the second inning as
Riley Danko and
Phoebe Clemens hit doubles to bring in a run each.
Amanda Hoover singled to right field to score another un in the third inning as the Chargers took a 3-1 lead. It was a strong fourth inning for the Monarchs as they scored seven straight runs to take a commanding 8-3 lead and go on to win game one 8-4.
By the Numbers
- The Chargers had eight hits for four runs and three runs batted in.
- The Monarchs had seven hits for eight runs and eight runs batted in.
- Clemens and Cleland both went 2-4 with Clemens grabbing an RBI.
- Maggie Kwiatkowski finished with a triple, two stolen bases, and two runs scored.
- Maddison Atkins was on the mound giving up seven hits, eight runs, eight errors, and striking out four batters.
Game Two, 6-5 Loss
The Chargers put the first three runs on the board through two innings of play highlighted by singles from
Maddison Atkins and Carleigh Clelend. The Monarchs didn't bring a run in until the third inning but the Chargers responded with two more in the fourth inning as Kari Ann Mecke was walked to bring in a run and then
Phoebe Clemens stole home. With a 5-1 lead in and just three innings of play left, the Monarch began to find momentum tying the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on back to back hits. In the seventh inning, the Chargers were able to get two runs on base but were unable to capitalize. It was the Monarchs that sent a double to right centerfield to grab the game two win 6-5.

- The Chargers had nine hits for five runs and four runs batted in.
- The Monarchs had 11 hits for six runs and six runs batted in.
- Ila Rowatti and Riley Danko both finished with two hits and one run scored.
- Clemens came across home plate twice and had one stolen base.
