The Lancaster Bible College Softball team hosted United East Conference foe Notre Dame (Md) Gators on Wednesday for their first conference double-header of the season falling in the first game 12-2 in five innings of play. The second game was postponed halfway through due to weather and the make-up date is still to be determined. The Chargers are now 10-9 overall and move to 0-1 in the conference while the Gators improve to 1-11 overall and 1-2 in conference.
How It Happened: The first inning gave the Gators a head start for the afternoon as they jumped out to an early 4-0 lead.
KariAnn Mecke singled to right field bringing in Kiera Price to put the Chargers on the board. The Gators got another un in the 2
nd inning while the Chargers grabbed their own in the 3
rd inning to make it a 5-2 ballgame. Between the 4
th and 5
th inning the Gators managed to put seven total runs across the plate due to some costly mistakes from the Chargers in the field. The visitors went on to secure a 12-2 win in just five innings of play.
