The Lancaster Bible College Softball team traveled to Allentown, Pa. to square off with Cedar Crest in United East play, playing as the home team after a site change and winning game one 10-3 while losing game two 9-7 in eight innings. The Chargers move to 11-10 overall and 1-2 in conference while the Falcons move to 13-13 overall and 5-1 in conference.
Game 1: 10-3 Win
How it Happened:
The Chargers hopped on the board early in the first inning, starting with a leadoff triple by graduate student
Phoebe Clemens followed by a RBI-single by sophomore
KariAnn Mecke. The Falcons got even in the second inning with a bases-loaded walk to tie it at 1-1, then the Chargers raced out to a big lead in the bottom frame. Clemens started the rally with a two-run single, scoring juniors
Alyssa Taylor and
Amanda Hoover for a 3-1 Charger lead. Then, freshman
Maggie Kwiatkowski came through with a triple to right center, scoring two more runs to extend the lead to four. Mecke grounded into a double play that saw Kwiatkowski score on the play, ending the five-run rally and allowing LBC to carry a 6-1 lead into the third inning.
Cedar Crest grabbed a pair of runs in the fourth inning to chip away at the lead, but the fifth inning was where Lancaster Bible put the game out of reach. Clemens came through once again with a two-RBI triple to right center, putting the lead back to five, then junior
Maddison Atkins blasted her first home run as a Charger on a two-run shot to left field, putting LBC past the 10-run mark on the game. The Chargers closed out the final two innings for a 10-3 win and their first United East victory of the season.

- The Chargers had 10 runs on a season-high 19 hits, while the Falcons scored three runs on four hits and neither team committed an error

Information to Know:
This was the Chargers' first-ever win against Cedar Crest as they are now 1-3 versus the Falcons. The Chargers earned their first conference win of the season after starting with a loss to Notre Dame (Md.) earlier this week.
Game 2: 7-9 Loss (8 inn.)
How it Happened:
After a scoreless first inning, the Chargers grabbed the lead once again as
Maggie Kwiatkowski worked a bases-loaded walk to bring
Alyssa Taylor in, putting LBC up 1-0 early. The third inning saw no runs from either team, then Cedar Crest took their first lead of the day as they plated two runs in the fourth for a 2-1 lead. The Falcons added on with two more in the fifth on a two-run double to go up 4-1 on LBC, then the Chargers matched that with two runs in the bottom frame as Kwiatkowski scored on an error and senior
Kylee Cole pinch-ran and stole third, scoring on the throwing error to make it a 4-3 game.
Cedar Crest added another in the sixth to go up two, but the Chargers surged forward with a three-run rally in the inning to take the lead back.
Phoebe Clemens hit her third triple of the day to drive in freshmen
Keira Price and
Ila Rowatti, tying the game at 5-5 before she scored on a sacrifice fly by Kwiatkowski to put the Chargers back on top. The Falcons tied it back up at 6-6 in the seventh inning, with LBC failing to score in their frame and sending it to extra innings. Cedar Crest plated three runs in their frame, then Taylor scored in the bottom of the eighth to bring it within one before the Chargers fell 9-7 in extras.
