The Lancaster Bible College Softball team concluded their Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Wednesday and Thursday, defeating Grove City 10-6 and Baruch 12-5, losing to Waynesburg 6-1, and playing a no-contest with Kenyon. The Chargers return to Lancaster 5-2 overall after finishing the trip 2-1.
Game 1 (Wed.): vs Grove City (10-6 Win)
How it Happened:
Both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings with one hit by the Wolverines and three for the Chargers. Lancaster Bible exploded onto the board in the third inning with seven total runs, their highest-scoring inning of the season so far. After two quick outs, graduate student
Phoebe Clemens started the rally with a double, then scored on a single by junior
Maddison Atkins to put LBC on top. The Chargers then strung together three singles in a row, each scoring a run to make it a 4-0 lead. Sophomore
Carleigh Cleland scored on a passed ball, then two more runners scored on a fielder's choice by freshman
Maggie Kwiatkowski, giving LBC a commanding seven-run lead.
Grove City led a big response in the fourth inning, plating five runs to narrow the deficit to just two at 7-5. The Chargers got another run on the board in the bottom frame on a RBI-bunt single by freshman
Keira Price that scored Atkins, but the Wolverines matched that run in the fifth to make it 8-6. Lancaster Bible added to the lead in the bottom of the fifth, with Kwiatkowski scoring on an error and Clemens driving in sophomore
Alyssa Taylor on a single for the tenth run of the game. Atkins closed out the effort in the circle to nab another win for the Chargers.

Both teams went scoreless in the first inning before the Bearcats got on the board first in the second after three hits resulted in a 1-0 lead. The Chargers responded in the top of the third, with
Phoebe Clemens knocking a triple to center field and scoring
Alyssa Taylor to tie the game at 1-1.
Maddison Atkins followed that with a sacrifice fly, scoring Clemens to give LBC a lead they would not surrender. After a scoreless fourth inning, Baruch tied the game at two on a passed ball, sending the game to the sixth inning locked in a tie.
Lancaster Bible seized control of the game in the sixth, sending 13 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs to grab a 9-2 lead over the Bearcats. Freshman
Maggie Kwiatkowski started the rally with a two-RBI single, putting LBC up 4-2, then Taylor reached on an error that scored junior
Amanda Hoover for another run. Clemens knocked a double to right field on the next at-bat to score Kwiatkowski, then Atkins reached on another error that scored two runners. The rally wrapped up on a RBI-single from
Carleigh Cleland, putting the Chargers up seven runs. The Chargers added three more runs in the seventh inning to put the game away, starting with a fielder's choice by Taylor to drive in a run. After loading the bases with two outs,
Keira Price drew a walk to score Taylor, then Clemens scored on a passed ball to put the Chargers up 10 runs at 12-2. The Bearcats rallied once more with three runs in the bottom frame, but Danko closed the game with a strikeout to give the Chargers their fifth win in Myrtle Beach.

The Chargers and Yellow Jackets both went scoreless through two innings, then the Chargers struck first on a RBI-single by
Maddison Atkins, scoring Clemens to put LBC up 1-0. Waynesburg responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs, tallying four hits in the frame and taking a 2-1 lead. The Chargers only mustered one hit for the rest of the game, with the Yellow Jackets adding another four runs to finish off LBC and take a 6-1 victory.
