The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team wrapped up their Spring Break trip on Wednesday with a with over St. Elizabeth, 10-4. The Chargers are now 6-6 overall as they head back to Lancaster, Pa. The Eagles dropped to 3-4 overall.
How It Happened: The Chargers were able to start early offensively putting three runs on the board in the first two innings. It began with
Owen Shimmel's single that scored
Evan Sareyka.
Malachi Sloane followed with a two-run homerun in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Eagles managed to tie the game at 3-3 in the 5
th inning.
It was the late innings where the Chargers came in clutch beginning with
Shane Stephan scoring off a wild pitch to take a 4-3 lead.
Will Howell followed sending a single to centerfield bringing in two runs. Stephan sent a two run shot to left field to bring the Chargers lead to 8-3 after eight innings of play. Sareyka and Shimmel capped it off just as they started with RBI doubles to bring the score to 10-3.
By the Numbers
- The Chargers had 13 hits for 10 runs and nine runs batted in.
- The Eagles had five hits for four runs and three runs batted in.
- Six different Chargers hit a double and two others had homeruns.
- Stephan went 3-5 with two runs and two RBIs.
- Sareyka went 2-5 with three runs and one RBI.
- Andrew Workman got the winning allowing just three hits in six innings pitched and three strikeouts.
