BACK ON TOP!! Men’s Volleyball Claims United East Banner

The top-seeded Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team hosted the United East Conference championship match on Saturday afternoon, defeating two-seed Wilson 3-0 to claim their second straight United East title and third consecutive conference crown. The Chargers' Jordan Yoder was named United East Tournament MVP after leading the Chargers in kills and digs for the match. The Chargers have earned an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III National Tournament and will enter at 23-7 overall, while the Phoenix end their season at 14-13 overall and conference runners-up for the first time in program history.

How it Happened:
The Chargers were assertive early as they raced to a 6-0 lead, then went up eight points at 12-4 after two big kills and a block by sophomore Jaiden Flanagan. Wilson kept pace in the middle of the set and rallied to come within seven towards the end, but the Chargers won the final four points behind two service aces by sophomore Carson Hoover to win the first set 25-14.

The Chargers used some early pairs of points to build an 8-3 lead in set two, but the Phoenix got four straight points to come within one at 8-7. The Chargers responded with a big 8-1 run to widen the gap, using three kills by sophomore Jordan Yoder and two blocks by sophomore Kevin Bryant. Wilson battled back, but Lancaster Bible closed set two with seven of the final eight points, seeing three straight aces land for junior Jake Rotelle as the Chargers slammed the door shut in set two 25-14.

Bryant and Yoder landed kills while junior Tyler Martin landed a service ace to get the Chargers off to a 5-1 lead in set three. A four-point run that was capped by Rotelle's fourth ace of the match put the Chargers up 9-2, then another 8-1 spurt later in the set included kills from Bryant, Hoover, and senior Dawson Forney to pad the lead out to 21-10. Wilson wouldn't go away as they scored five late points, but a pair of Phoenix errors helped seal the set for the Chargers 25-15 and hand Lancaster Bible their third straight conference title and their second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.

By the Numbers:
- The Chargers dominated every category as they tripled up the Phoenix in kills 39-13, landed eight service aces to the Phoenix's three, and had five blocks to Wilson's zero
