Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Mark Rowles

Chargers Fall to Spartans at Home

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team hosted York (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon as LBC Athletics celebrated their Alumni Appreciation game, with the Chargers falling by a score of 2-0. The Chargers move to 2-2-1 overall while the Spartans improve to 3-1-2 overall.

How it Happened:
The Spartans struck just four minutes into the game as they moved the ball into the box for a header goal to take an early 1-0 lead. The Chargers drew the first corner kick of the game 15 minutes in, then the Spartans earned a corner the next minute. Senior Ben Nolt had a shot from just outside the box that was saved by the Spartan keeper, then Chargers goalie Micah Dressler had a pair of saves to keep York (Pa.) off the board. Nolt had another shot later that missed high and Dressler made two more saves as the half winded down at a 1-0 deficit for Lancaster Bible.

Dressler made a save for the Chargers in the first two minutes of the second half, then Nolt had a shot blocked as the Chargers pressed into the box. The teams went back and forth in the midfield for a long time in the second half with neither getting a good scoring opportunity, with several presses into the box for the Chargers but no good looks. With two minutes to go, York (Pa.) iced the game with a goal on a fast break to end the game 2-0 and give the Chargers their first loss at home this season.

By the Numbers:
- The Spartans had 16 shots to the Chargers' five and led 3-2 in corner kicks
- Ben Nolt had a team-high three shots for the Chargers
- Micah Dressler made six saves in goal
- Gavin Huey (4') and Ricky Cicmanec (89') were the Spartan goal-scorers
