The Lancaster Bible field hockey team took on Sweet Briar Saturday, September 20 at the Donald H. Funk Field at the Willis and Martha Herr Stadium. A fourth period goal by the Vixens would prove to be enough to sneak passed the Chargers 3-2. Lancaster Bible will move to 2-3 on the season as Sweet Briar improves to 2-4.
How it Happened
The Vixen's would be the first to go on the offensive, finding the back of the net 2:13 into the game. The Chargers would not sit back for long, forcing a penalty corner about 30 seconds later followed by a
Bailey Simmons' goal assisted by
Riley Danko. After the quick start, the game would slow down for both sides for the rest of the period.
The second period would start with a save by
Amanda Hoover, 15 seconds in, keeping the game tied at 1-1. A green card by the Chargers in the 21
st minute would shift all momentum as the Vixens capitalized on the opportunity with a goal. Both teams would even out for till the end of the period as the Chargers entered halftime down 2-1.
Sweet Briar would come out with even more pressure in the third period forcing a penalty corner followed up by a shot on goal that was saved. Lancaster Bible would not back down forcing their own penalty corner.
Riley Danko would make the most of the opportunity scoring her fifth goal of the season, tying the game back up at 2-2. The Chargers would keep the pressure up forcing two more penalty corners, but unable to capitalize on either. A blocked shot by the Chargers would end the period, as they entered the fourth tied.
The Vixens would look to dominate the fourth period early forcing a save by
Amanda Hoover, followed by a penalty corner. The Chargers would continue to defend against the pressure of two more penalty corners and two more shots. Sweet Briar would eventually find the gap in the 54
th minute, as they broke the tie 3-2. Lancaster Bible would look for one more moment by forcing one more penalty corner followed by a shot, but the Vixens held the Chargers scoreless in the fourth.

Chargers were out shot by the Vixens 5-11 including 3-7 in shots on goal. Vixens would force six penalty corners compared to the Charges five. Chargers would record four saves to the Vixens one.
