The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team took on Albright in Reading, Pa. on Wednesday night, working a 2-2 draw as they came back twice. The Chargers move to 3-3-2 overall while the Lions move to 4-1-2 overall.
How it Happened:
Albright had the early momentum on offense with six shots in the first 13 minutes, but only one was on goal as freshman
Micah Dressler made a save. Freshman
AJ Mecke had the first shot on goal for the Chargers as he forced a save, then Dressler made a save less than a minute later as the Lions flipped the field. It was the Lions who struck first as they punched in a goal after a free kick in the 27th minute, but the Chargers had a response. Senior
Ben Nolt worked a foul inside the box to force a penalty kick in the 29th minute, with fellow senior
Andrew Cox taking the kick and cashing in on a score to tie the game up at 1-1. Albright, however, made a quick turnaround and scored just three minutes later as they retook the lead 2-1. Cox had a few more shots to end the half that were saved, ending the first half with the Chargers trailing by a score.
The intensity picked up in the second half as the Lions drew a corner kick early and both teams received cards. A scuffle in the 53rd minute led to a red card ejection for Albright, allowing for another Chargers penalty as Cox stepped up again, cashing in a second goal from the mark to tie the game at 2-2. Albright was aggressive with another six shots before the Chargers got another as sophomore
Silas Dellaperute as well as Cox and Nolt put shots on goal. The teams played tight for the remainder of the half, but neither could score as the teams worked to a draw after regulation.
