Chargers Stung by Yellow Jackets

The Lancaster Bible field hockey team opened the homecoming festivities on Friday evening, as they welcomed Randolph Macon to the Donald H. Funk Field at the Willis and Martha Herr Stadium. The Yellow Jackets would hold the Chargers scoreless for 60 minutes while finding three goals of their own. The Chargers will move to 2-5 as the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-3.

How it Happened:
After both teams would take time with possession, the Chargers would look to strike first forcing a penalty corner at 5:06. The Yellow Jackets would respond with a swarm of attempts, including five shots and two penalty corners. Goalkeeper Amanda Hoover would be able to record two saves, but with 23 seconds left in the period, the ball would find the back of the net.

Period two would continue to remain in Randolph Macon's control. They would fire off three shots and force three penalty corners. Lancaster Bible would hold strong as Amanda Hoover would record her fourth save of the game while the other two shots were blocked. The game would remain 1-0 as both teams were scoreless.

The Yellow Jackets would waste no time applying the pressure in the second half. Two minutes in, they would record their second goal of the game. Pressure would not stop there as they would fire three more shots on goal, each one saved by the Chargers. Eventually the pressure would become too much, as the Yellow Jackets would score their third goal at 40:19. They would take the 3-0 heading into the fourth.

Randolph Macon's control would continue into the fourth period, recording three more penalty corners; the result, a couple of shots that went wide. Amanda Hoover would record her eighth and final save of the night at the 53:07 mark. Lancaster Bible would look to end the game with one final penalty corner. Randolph Macon would defend it well as the fourth period would end scoreless.

By the Numbers:
Chargers were outshot by the Yellow Jackets 0-24 including 0-11 in shots on goal. Yellow Jackets would force 10 penalty corners compared to the Charges two. Chargers would record eight saves. Yellow Jacket's goal scorers were Breea Dresler, Kylee Gorham, and Penelope Trageser
