Lehman Picks Up First Win at Marywood

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team picked up their first win of the season under head coach Seth Lehman as they defeated Marywood 2-0 in Scranton, Pa. on Wednesday afternoon. The Chargers improve to 1-1 overall while the Pacers suffer their first loss at 2-1 overall.
 
How it Happened:
The Chargers had the momentum early with seniors Janae Bergey and Leah Perreault taking early shots. LBC earned the first corner of the game 18 minutes in with a shot from Perreault getting saved by the Pacer goalie. The Chargers struck for their first goal of 2025 in the 32nd minute as junior Samantha Perloni took a free kick from just behind the midfield line, finding sophomore Zoe Beers in the box for a score to the right side of the goal to give LBC a 1-0 lead. Marywood countered strong with seven shots and two corners in the final 12 minutes, but could not score as the Chargers led at the half.
 
The Pacers pressured early in the second half with three corner kicks, with LBC getting their first corner of the half 23 minutes in. The Chargers found a breakaway in the 76th minute as Bergey received a pass upfield and took it all the way to the goal, scoring to extend the Charger lead to two goals with less than 15 minutes remaining. The Chargers held strong on defense to close out the Pacers on the road for their first win of the season.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Pacers took more shots than the Chargers 16-10 and had more shots on goal 6-4
- Zoe Beers netted the Chargers' first goal of 2025 in the first half
- Janae Bergey scored for Lancaster Bible in the second half
- Freshman goalie Ana Pinieski made six saves in goal for the Chargers
- Caroline Walters had a team-high three shots for the Pacers
 
Information to Know:
The Chargers have their first win under head coach Seth Lehman, joining the Chargers for his first season. Janae Bergey netted her 16th career goal today for the Chargers while Zoe Beers scored for the eighth time in her career. Samantha Perloni notched her third career assist today with one in each year of her career so far.
