Chargers Fall to St. Mary’s (Md.) at Home

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team hosted St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday afternoon in United East play, falling by a score of 77-48. The Chargers drop to 7-12 overall and 5-2 in the United East while the Seahawks improve to 12-5 overall and 6-0 in the United East.
 
How it Happened:
The Seahawks got out to a 6-0 lead over the first two minutes before Rachel Nolt (Jr.) got LBC on the board with a layup. The lead quickly got to 10 for St. Mary's (Md.) before a pair of free throws and a made layup by Isabella Eufemia (Jr.) got the Chargers back within six. The Seahawks continued their hot start by closing with a made 3-pointer at the buzzer, leading 24-10 after one quarter of play.
 
The Seahawks continued to pile on to start the second as they scored the first seven, then Raven Hunter (Sr.) ended the run with a pair of free throws. Emily Wilson (Fr.) added a layup, then the Seahawks held LBC without a field goal until the final seconds where Wilson knocked down a deep three, the Chargers' first of the game as St. Mary's (Md.) carried a 45-18 lead into the half.
 
The Seahawks extended the lead to 32 early in the third before Hunter got a layup to go, then Nolt and Eufemia each scored for a quick 6-0 LBC scoring run. Later in the quarter, Emma Christner (Fr.) drove for a layup, then Eufemia closed the quarter with a fast-break layup as the deficit remained at 27 points after three.
 
Eufemia hit a corner three early in the fourth before the Seahawks added five more, then Shania Stoltzfus (So.) made a layup in transition. Wilson then added a pair of buckets, then as the quarter wound down Nikki Diehl (Fr.) hit a 3-pointer as St. Mary's (Md.) closed out a big road win over the Chargers to stay unbeaten in conference play.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers shot 34-percent from the floor, 19-percent from 3-point range, and 56-percent from the free throw line
- The Seahawks shot 46-percent from the floor, 33-percent from three, and 55-percent on free throws
- Isabella Eufemia led the Chargers with 16 points
- Emily Wilson added 11 points and three assists
- Rachel Nolt had eight points and seven rebounds
- The Seahawks were led by Keira Mason with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds off the bench

Information to Know:
The Chargers are now 2-10 all-time against St. Mary's (Md.) and have dropped four straight matchups with the Seahawks.
