The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team returned home to Lancaster, Pa. to take on Penn St. Brandywine, picking up a big 7-0 win in United East action. The Chargers improve to 5-7-1 overall and 3-1 in the United East while the Lions fall to 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the United East.
How it Happened:
After several offside calls for LBC in the early going, the Lions had the first shot of the game as
Chris Jackson (Sr.) made a save, his only one of the half as the Chargers controlled the possession. LBC then had three corner kicks as
Riley Bills (Fr.) put a shot on goal and others had shots that just missed, then in the 24th minute, the Chargers broke through on a perfect sequence as
Derek Rhine (Sr.) and
Andre Ramos (Fr.) set up
Zach Coryell (Gr.) for a one-touch goal in the box to give LBC a 1-0 lead.
Joel Walker (Jr.) then had several shots wide on headers and Bills had another shot on goal as the Chargers continued to push on offense and draw corner kicks. With under three minutes to go in the half, Walker had a shot in the box that deflected and bounced around before
Jacob Melleby (Fr.) corralled it and punched it through to give LBC a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Within two minutes of the second half starting, the Chargers struck again as Bills gathered a ball off a deflected pass from
Gabe Bormolini (Fr.) and fired it in for the Chargers' third of the game. Rhine and
Silas Dellaperute (Jr.) then had shots on goal before two LBC corner kicks, then the teams traded possession as several more LBC corners kept the pressure up. Bills then got his second goal of the game as
Jacob Garrett (Fr.) picked up the assist, then about five minutes later, Garrett got in the scoring column himself off a pass from
Ethan Buss (Fr.) for a 5-0 Chargers lead. Garrett then had another assist in the 80th minute as Melleby connected on his second score, then a great break up the field by Coryell got
Luke Richardson (Jr.) in position to score one more time for the Chargers as they closed out a dominant 7-0 home conference victory.
