The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team traveled north to La Plume, Pa. for a United East match against Keystone, earning a 2-0 shutout win on the road. The Chargers improve to 6-7-1 overall and 4-1 in the United East while the Giants drop to 5-8-1 overall and 3-3 in the United East.
How it Happened:
The Chargers had the first three corner kicks as
Luke Richardson (Jr.) had two shots that missed to the right, then Keystone had a shot that missed high. The Giants had the first shot on goal just past the 36-minute mark as
Chris Jackson (Sr.) made the save, then both
Jacob Melleby (Fr.) and
Ethan Buss (Fr.) put shots on goal as the half wound down with both teams remaining scoreless heading into the halftime break.
Each team mounted an attack in the first five minutes of the second half with Jackson making a save and the Giants' keeper making two. The Chargers then drew a foul as
Silas Dellaperute (Jr.) lined up for the free kick, drilling the shot to the upper right corner to break through in the 56th minute for a 1-0 LBC advantage. About seven minutes later,
Jacob Garrett (Fr.) gathered the ball off a defensive breakdown by Keystone and dribbled a low shot into the back of the net, extending the lead to 2-0 on the road. Each team had several more shots and the Giants drew three corner kicks in the final ten minutes, but the defense held for LBC as they closed out a 2-0 win in conference play for their third straight shutout victory.
