Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Mark Rowles

Women’s Soccer Stopped by Harrisburg for First Conference Loss

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team suffered their first loss in United East play of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Penn St. Harrisburg 4-0 at home. The Chargers drop to 5-6-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the United East while the Lions improve to 7-5-1 overall and 6-0 in the United East.

How it Happened:
Goalkeeper Saige Santa Cruz (Jr.) made a pair of early saves for the Chargers before Samantha Perloni (Sr.) put a shot on goal on a free kick that was saved in the middle. The Lions then came down with two good shots that were both saved by Santa Cruz, then the defense held off two corner kick attempts before a corner of their own with no shot. Inside 15 minutes to play in the half, Santa Cruz made another save before the rebound was gathered and punched in for the opening score, putting Penn St. Harrisburg up 1-0. About 90-seconds later, the Lions scored another goal to quickly see their lead double to 2-0 on the road, carrying that advantage into the halftime break.

The Harrisburg lead extended to 3-0 in the first ten minutes of the second half, then they added another just past the 20-minute mark of the half to go up 4-0. Isabella Eufemia (Sr.) had a shot on goal a few minutes later that was saved, then had another towards the end of the half that also could not find the back of the net. The Lions held LBC back down the stretch as they secured a road victory for the Chargers' first conference loss of the season.
