Chargers Fall to Seahawks in Regular Season Finale

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team played their final regular season game of the year as they traveled south to take on St. Mary's (Md.) in United East action, falling by a score of 5-1. The Chargers end their regular season at 5-9 overall and 3-3 in the United East while the Seahawks improve to 8-7 overall and 4-1 in the United East.

How it Happened:
The teams traded possession in the early portion of the first quarter before the Seahawks got off several shots in a row that were off-target, then Lauren Stup (Fr.) made the game's first save about 11 minutes in. After a quick pair of corners, Stup made another save that was followed by two more Seahawk shots that were off as the game remained scoreless after one quarter of play.

The Seahawks struck first as they connected off a penalty corner early in the second, taking a 1-0 advantage at home. The Chargers, however, had an answer just three minutes later as Mallie McNatt (Fr.) netted the tying goal to make it a 1-1 game. St. Mary's (Md.) retook the lead in the final three minutes of the half as the Chargers trailed by one heading into the halftime break.

Riley Danko (Sr.) had an early shot on goal in the third quarter that was saved, then the Seahawks had an on-target shot on the other end that was saved by Stup. A few minutes later, Danko had another shot off a corner, then the teams traded possession as the game remained a one-score affair heading into the final period.

The Seahawks capitalized on a corner in the first minute of the fourth quarter to extend their lead to 3-1, then after a pair of LBC saves, they added another score to make it a 4-1 game. A fifth and final goal was scored by the Seahawks two minutes later as they closed out the road victory and dropped the Chargers to .500 to finish conference play.
