The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team hosted a home tri-match on Saturday as they took down Cairn in United East play 3-1 and defeated Hood College in a sweep to secure two wins on the day and extend their winning streak to seven games. The Chargers improve to 13-9 overall and 8-1 in the United East while the Highlanders drop to 13-8 overall and 5-3 in the United East and the Blazers move to 3-19 overall and 2-4 in the MAC Commonwealth.

vs Cairn: 3-1 WIN (23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-15)

How it Happened:
Madison Reap (Jr.) landed an early service ace as the Chargers took a 3-1 lead, but the Highlanders surged ahead from there as they went on a five-point run to take a 7-4 lead. Hannah Helmer (Fr.) landed a kill in response to start a three-point burst to tie the score, but another four in a row from Cairn gave them the lead back. Helmer had another kill to get LBC back within one, but another four-point run from the Highlanders put them up five points. The Chargers began to fight back from there, winning five of six points including a kill and a block by Chloe Belford (Sr.), then a kill and a service ace by Lea Sareyka (Sr.) helped tie the set back up at 20-20. A kill and a block by Helmer helped LBC take a 23-21 lead, but the Highlanders closed with the final four points to take set one 25-23.

The Chargers took a 3-0 lead in set two before extending the lead to 6-2 on an ace by Sareyka, but Cairn landed four straight including a block. The lead then swung back and forth for a few points before the Chargers scored three in a row, then the teams traded eight straight volleys before a kill by Jessica Fletcher (Sr.) started another three-point spurt for the Chargers as they led 18-13. Two service aces by Maggie Kwiatkowski (Jr.) helped fuel a run of five points late in the set for the Chargers, closing out the set 25-16 on a kill by Sareyka to even up the match at 1-1.
(At 21-15 in the second set, Madeline Reed (Sr.) recorded her 2,000th career assist!)

Cairn seized momentum early in set three as they led 8-3, then a kill and an ace by Sareyka quickly cut it to a three-point deficit. The teams then traded the next seven points before a kill by Chloe Belford made it a 12-10 set, but the Highlanders won four of the next five points for a five-point lead at 16-11. Helmer had a kill to cap a run of three for the Chargers right after, then LBC found a big swing at five straight points as Fletcher had two kills to put the Chargers ahead 19-17. Eden Belford (Sr.) had a block and a kill and Sareyka had two kills as LBC won four straight to pull away, securing the third set 25-21 to claim the advantage in the match.

Fletcher got set four started with a kill, then a series of Highlander errors led the Chargers to a five-point run as their early lead stretched to 8-2. Cairn chipped away to make it a three-point gap, but an ace and a kill by Maggie Kwiatkowski helped get the lead back to six. The Chargers then scored another five straight points with Tessa Kwiatkowski (Sr.) landing two aces and Sareyka knocking two kills, then two more aces by Sareyka extended the lead to 21-10. Cairn earned five of the next seven points, but a pair of errors by Cairn helped seal the deal at 25-15 in set four and clinch the Chargers' seventh straight conference victory as they took a 3-1 win.
